GRACE before MEAT.
I.
1 FOuntain of Being, Source of Good!
2 At whose Almighty Breath
3 The Creature proves our Bane or Food,
4 Dispensing Life or Death:
II.
5 Thee we address with humble Fear,
6 Vouchsafe thy Gifts to crown;
7 Father of All, thy Children hear,
8 And send a Blessing down.
III.
9 O may our Souls for ever pine
10 Thy Grace to taste and see;
11 Athirst for Righteousness Divine,
12 And hungry after Thee!
IV.
13 For this we lift our longing Eyes,
14 We wait the gracious Word;
15 Speak — and our Hearts from Earth shall rise,
16 And feed upon the Lord.
